In the Heights is an upcoming 2021 American musical drama film directed by Jon M. Chu and written by Quiara Alegría Hudes, based on the Broadway musical of the same name by Hudes and Lin-Manuel Miranda. The film stars Anthony Ramos in the role of Usnavi. Corey Hawkins, Leslie Grace, Melissa Barrera, Olga Merediz, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Gregory Diaz IV, Stephanie Beatriz, Dascha Polanco, and Jimmy Smits also star.
In the Heights’ 2020 premiere was pushed back due to the pandemic, it is now scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States and on HBO Max on June 18, 2021. According to Variety, In the Heights will be available to HBO Max subscribers for 31 days from premiere than will only play in theaters.
